BEOWULF

Gerard Butler as BeowulfHas anyone read Beowulf? I just finished it and thought it was a very good book. I read the Burton Raffel version. I know there is a movie out there about it but it hasn't come to our area yet. I think I would like to see how this book looks on the screen. I didn't think I would like reading this but was challenged by a friend and what do ya know! I did like it. In fact I stayed up through the night reading it and finished up the next morning.

I would be interested in hearing anyone elses comments regarding this book too

Oddly, I'm not a fan of the plot, as it were, but I'm fascinated with it as an historical piece. I also read a decent chunk of it in the original Old English, which was "entertaining," to say the least.

Neil Gaiman adapted it for the screenplay, so I'm really looking forward to that -- he's one of my favorite writers.
