Pride and Prejudice
Jul 6 2007, 1:17 PM EDT | Post edited: Jul 6 2007, 1:17 PM EDT
I'm doing a Summer Reading Project on Pride and Prejudice. I found it delightful, itreminded me of a soap opera but the best one ever created.

I need help finding a book with the shared theme, Reputation, however so I can compare and contrast the two of them. Would someone be so kind as to help me? Thank you.

Just about any Jane Austen book will do...Mainly Sense and Sensibilities, Emma, I've never read Persuasion, so I couldn't tell you about that one. But you you might want something that isn't the same basic storyline:-) - hmmm...besides that I really couldn't tell you :-( Sorry...

I haven't read the book but i've enjoyed all the movies based on the book ( mostly on PBS).. My fav was . the one with Keira Knightly. It's on DVD. You can find similar themes in Harlequin romance books. Emma & Sense are along the same lines. Do you find this valuable?

I also loved the movie with Kiera Knightly. I have the PBS version that is 6 hours long that I really enjoy also. I have in the last few months purchased Persuasions but haven't taken the time to get it read yet. Jane Austen is a wonderful writer. As far as finding a similar book for you to compare to, that could be tough. Jane's books are so full of "drama" as my daughters would say. LOL! Although not exactly like Pride and Prejudice the book that comes to mind is maybe Little Women. Not the same story at all, but one of sisters who are close knit and their lives. Another one I found but have not read yet...but will go get this book soon, is the following:
Frederica / by: Georgette Heyer
Calling this novel a "masterpiece of words and humor," Nora Roberts
writes the Introduction in homage to an author considered the creator of
the modern Regency genre. In this story, the prized bachelor status of
the Marquis of Alverstoke is threatened when he becomes entangled with
Miss Frederica and her extraordinary family.

I had forgotten G.Heyer. I really enjoyed her books some time ago. I'll have to go back & reread them again. Also check out Clare Darcy's books. If I remember correctly, it's on the same style.
